In an attempt to inculcate entrepreneurship and marketing skills in students, Sheri Kashmir University of Agriculture Sciences and Technology, K organised a day-long ‘Bizz Fest 2019’ at SKUAST-K campus Shalimar on Thursday.
During the festival students setup stalls to exhibit their products and creations.
The festival was jointly organised by the university’s Dean Student’s welfare and School of Agricultural Economics & Horti-Business Management. During the festival students from Horti-Business Management and other branches had put up around 20 stalls in which products related to food, accessories, games, arts and crafts were exhibited throughout the day.
The organisers said that the event was organized to give students a firsthand experience of entrepreneurship and marketing. The event was inaugurated by the vice chancellor of SKAUST-K, Prof Nazeer Ahmed in presence of senior faculty members of various departments.
Vice chancellor while dwelling upon the importance of entrepreneurship and marketing skills in students said that such events provide a good exposure to students for opening businesses.
“Such events are very important as they provide a firsthand experience to students and encourage them to start their own ventures when they complete their degrees,” Nazeer Ahmed said.
Around 600 students participated in the event including scores of students across many universities of the state.
“This is a startup programme where we made our students to participate and sell their products related to food, arts and crafts etc. All the faculty members and students participated in buying these products to encourage our young students. Through such event we want to encourage students so that they become job providers rather than job seekers,” said professor Siddique, Dean Student’s welfare.
Later the participating students were presented with certificates and mementos by VC-SKAUST.
