BJP State Spokesperson Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo today said that his party’s priority is restoration of peace in Kashmir and reiterated that it is committed to abrogate Article 35 A.
“Restoration of peace is BJP’s top priority in Kashmir.Elimination of militancy is the fundamental condition incidental to theestablishment of peace,” Chrungoo said addressing a press conference here.
“The mandate in Jammu and Kashmir has given BJPwhooping 47 percent of votes in the recently conducted elections. This hasadded responsibilities on us to realize the long pending demands of thepeople,” he said.
” BJP stands committed to abrogation of Article 35Awhich is ultra vires of the fundamental rights and the recognized internationalhuman rights. It discriminates among the citizens and has categorized people inthe state into first class, second class and third class citizens. Article 370of the Constitution has created a state within a state and build walls ofhatred and discrimination among various sections of people in India. Moreover,the Instrument of Accession was unconditional so this temporary provision willhave to go eventually, particularly when the Article by itself is a “temporaryand transitional provision” categorized in the Constitution of India,”Chrungoo said.
“Kashmiri Pandits, the indigenous people of the Kashmirvalley, are the primary stakeholders to the land of Kashmir.. Theirresettlement in Kashmir is the party’s basic commitment. BJP is conscious ofthe geopolitical aspirations of Pandits in this regard,” he added.
