J&K facing unprecedented challenge: Farooq Abdullah

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said the state is facing unprecedented challenge saying that the need of the hour calls for keeping personal interests aside for the greater interests of the party and the state.

Farooq was addressing a provincial committee meet of Kashmirprovince at Nawa-e-Subah.

   

 “The state wasfacing a grim situation which necessitated for a united response from all ofus. We are faced with a tough struggle. Forces as are inimical to the state’sinterests are trying their level best to influence the elections. They can goto any extent to create divisions between the regions and communities andeventually milk the situation to its hilt to grind their axe,” Farooq said. 

“It is not concealed as to what is the agenda of ourdetractors, they have explicitly made it clear time and again that they want toobliterate the special status and the territorial integrity of the state. Theneed of the hour is to maintain unity among our rank and file and fight with aresolute mind,” he said

“Sher e Kashmir always held that people are the real sourceof power. During the recently concluded elections people have overwhelming cameout in support of us. People have considerately reposed their faith in ourparty to carry forward the mission of protecting the integrity and specialcharacter of the state.”

Party president while exuding confidence into the workersand party functionaries said, “the need of the hour calls for increasinggreater contact with the people across the state. It is for our workers andparty functionaries to take the agenda and program of the party to everyhousehold.  The need of the hour isacquaint the people about the party’s spectacular past and the future programmeby undertaking a door to door campaign. There is no scope of complacency. Ourmission is explicit and clear, it is to protect   the special status of the state and put thestate back on the track of development and prosperity.”

Extolling the role of party functionaries and workers formaking spectacular win of the party possible in the parliamentary electionssaid, “We have to maintain the momentum of the parliament elections untilassembly elections. The party rank and file has to proactively engage with partyleadership in Pir Panjal regions, Chenab regions and Ladakh region.”

Party president while underlining the importance of healthand education sector in the development of state said, “I shall be using my MPLAD fund effectively in health and education sector of the Srinagarparliamentary constituency. I believe health and education sector form the backbone of any society. I will try my level best to rise up to the expectations ofthe people.”

“Doors of the party were open for all those who want towork for the protection of the special status of the state. “Anybody who wantsto put in his or her efforts for the protection of the pluralistic visage andthe distinctiveness of the state is welcome to join us,” he said.

Among others party senior leaders Ali Muhammad Sagar, DrSheikh Mustufa Kamal, Nasir Aslam Wani, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Choudhary MuhammadRamzan, Abdul Rahim Rather, Muhammad Shafi Uri, district presidents, segmentin-charges, women’s wing, minority cell and YNC functionaries were also presenton the occasion.
