On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, the registration of a school van was Thursday suspended after it was found overloaded with students.
The DC directed the RTO Kashmir to seize the vehicle and suspend its registration. He said overloading on school vans was a serious form of traffic violation and cannot be tolerated.
He warned strict action against the schools whose vehicles are found indulging in illegal practice of overloading. The action against the schools could range from withdrawal of registrations, said an official statement.
Choudhary said a drive against overloading on school vans will be launched across the district in efforts to curb it.
