GREF carries out emergency repairs of Bailey bridge on Jammu-Poonch highway

General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF) carried out emergency repair of a Bailey bridge on Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway at Dassalnallah. 

As per details with Greater Kashmir, the vital 100 feet steel bridge had suffered some damage on its surface making it prone to the accidents. “The issue came to fore when a passenger bus had got stuck on it few days ago,” said an official.

   

He said the matter was taken up with GREF by district administration Rajouri and the repair work was taken under project Sampark. GREF officials said, “The bridge being very vital, any damage to it can stall vehicular connectivity to the NH 144-A.”

“Parts of damaged bridge were managed and the task was executed on the ground by 58 RCC,” they said. “The traffic on the highway was suspended between Salanibridge and workshop bridge during the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday,” officials said. “The entire bridge surface has been repaired successfully,” the officials of GREF said.

Meanwhile, the district administration Rajouri lauded the efforts of GREF in carrying out the repair of the bridge.
