Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday registered a criminal case against a man of Hullar village, who had been “detained” by a team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday morning, officials said.
Station house officer, Kishtwar, Mohammad Bashir, told Greater Kashmir: “A case (FIR number 36, under section 7/25) has been registered at Kishtwar police station, under the Indian Arms Act, against Arshad @MD on a written complaint of the National Investigation Agency.”
Reports said that the accused was also presented before a local court, where the chief judicial magistrate, Kishtwar, sent him (accused) to ten-day police remand.
Pertinently, a team of National Investigation Agency raided the house of the accused and recovered “some material” on behalf of which a criminal case has been registered against him, the police said, adding that NIA had detained the man on Wednesday morning in connection with the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar by unknown gunmen on November 1, 2018.
The accused, reportedly, is a former militant who had joined the BJP in 2014.
