2 boys drown, 3 hurt in PaK

Muzaffarabad, Dec 12: Two schoolboys drowned and three others were injured after a cradle used for river crossing broke up, plunging them into River Kunhar near here on Wednesday, police said.
 The victims were returning to their homes in Patreend village in Pakistan administered Kashmir from their high school located across the river in the North West Frontier Province’s Boi village through what is commonly known as doli. The doli which is pulled through ropes broke over the middle of the river, and resultantly the boys, aged between 16 and 12, fell into the water.
 Three of them swam to the riverbank with injuries but two others drowned. Their bodies were recovered by the villagers some yards away from the site of incident.
 The deceased were identified as Nauman Jalil, 13, and Attiqur Rehman, 16 and others as Asad Jalil, Hamid Farooq and Asad Munir.
 According to police, the doli was constructed by the PaK public works department some 20 years ago.
