No rift between Salahuddin, Geelani: Hizb

Greater Kashmir

Muzaffarabad, Aug 30: Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit on Wednesday rejected reports as “pack of lies” that its supreme commander Syed Salahuddin and Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Geelani have come into conflict with each other.
A section of Indian media had claimed that mistrust and differences have developed between the two who have always thrown support behind each other.
“These reports are concocted, rather absurd. The jihadi leadership has full faith and trust in Geelani Sahib who is representing the sentiments of the oppressed Kashmiri nation in the true sense of word,” said Hizb spokesman Ehsan Elahi in a statement here.
“Syed Salahuddin firmly believes that it is Syed Ali Shah Geelani who has kept the cause of Kashmiris alive over the past 50 years, has nourished the freedom movement under the shadow of Tehreek-e-Islami, has played a leading role in the political and armed struggle, and raised the morale of Kashmiris in the most adverse situations,” he said, adding “mistrust of such a great person was unthinkable.”
The Hizb spokesman also vehemently denied that there had ever been any heated argument between the two leaders.
“Such figments of imagination are the handiwork of Indian agencies and anti-freedom forces which are making desperate but vain attempts to sow friction and discord in the ranks of freedom loving people,” he said.
“We completely dismiss and condemn the contents of such reports and strictly warn the roughish elements to desist from committing reprehensible acts in future,” the Hizb spokesman added.
