Tens of thousands of people are marching with the body of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Fayaz Ahmad Hamal from his home in Fateh Kadal towards the Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Downtown Srinagar.
Hamal was killed along with two associates – believed to be foreign nationals – in a seven-hour-long gunfight in Gasi Mohalla area of Chattabal.
A civilian Adil Ahmad was also killed after being run over by a police vehicle during protests in Noorbagh area.
An eye witness said that tens of thousands of people raising slogans in favour of Kashmir’s freedom were marching along with the body towards Jamia where funeral prayers would be offered.
Mourners who were carrying flags raised pro-freedom and pro-militant slogans.
Hamal would be later laid to rest at Eidgah.
