1 killed, 9 injured in 2 road accidents in J&K

A woman was killed while eight others including a pregnant woman were injured in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts.

A woman was killed while eight others including a pregnant woman were injured in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts.

An official of police said a woman identified as Phullan Begum wife of Mohammad Fareed of Daliyan Nowshera who had boarded a bus slipped out of it at Daliyan village.

"The critically injured woman was shifted to Nowshera sub district hospital where she died," said official.

Her body was handed over to her family for last rites after its post mortem examination in Nowshera hospital.

The Nowshera police registered a case and seized the bus.

In another accident, a Tata Sumo JK02J 4755 which was on way to Behram Gala from Surankote, fell into a gorge at Mirza Morh near Surankote town. Eight persons in the vehicle were injured.

Among the injured is a pregnant woman. The injured were shifted to Nowshera sub district hospital.

"We have registered a case in this regard in Surankote police station and the injured are under treatment," a police official said.

KANGAN ACCIDENT

Meanwhile, one person was injured in a road accident on Srinagar-Leh highway in Kangan area of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district on Thursday. 

Officials said an Alto car bearing registration no. 0869/JK16A was on its way from Ganiwan to Kangan. When the vehicle reached Kangan, it collided with the truck 6410/JK05R) at Mamar. In the accident the Alto car driver identified as Manzoor Ahmad Poswal (30) of Hariganiwan Kangan, was injured.

The injured was rushed to sub district hospital Kangan for treatment. 

Police have taken cognizance of the case.
