The members of Civil Society Poonch have strongly demanded the restoration of damaged Shier-e-Kashmir Bridge and power infrastructure in the border district.
Speaking during an interaction session organised by the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner-Nasir Wani, the locals raised several problems confronting the people.
The members, while highlighting the inconvenience faced by the people, strongly demanded permanent restoration of SK Bridge and power infrastructure damaged in September floods and incessant rains in March.
They also demanded improvement in the condition of roads and adequate ration and regular water supply, town planning and improvement in the functioning of Poonch Municipality.
The speakers also sought strict action against overloading by the public transport operators and illegal excavation from river bed.
Acknowledging improvement in police administration, the people appreciated changes in the functioning of district police and lauded the SSP for busting the gang of burglars involved in numerous theft cases. They particularly appreciated the accessibility of police officers and visible change in the entire organization.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Poonch Nasir Wani reminded the participants of the key role of civil society in ensuring a proactive and responsive administration and asked them to bring to his notice any public issue and grievance for immediate redressal.
He assured that issues pertaining to power and water supply, ration, SK Bridge etc will be addressed on priority basis.
