With an objective to strengthen the relationship between police and public, besides to harness the young talent through different sports activities, Rajouri police under its civic action programme today organized a wrestling competition at Koteranka.
Over 50 wrestlers from Jammu, Reasi and Rajouri participated in this competition, which was inaugurated by SSP Rajouri Dr. Haseeb Mughal, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
First round of this event was won by Kala Khan of Khawas Rajouri. He defeated Mardhan Ali of Jammu and was awarded with a cash price of Rs 5000, while Rs 3000 to was awarded to runner up.
The second round was won by Anwar Choudhary of Jammu by defeating Dalbir Singh of Reasi and cash price of Rs 4000 was given to winner and Rs 2000 to runner up.
Similarly, third round was won by Gadu of Mahore Reasi by defeating Sadeeq Choudhary of Reasi. The winner was awarded with a cash price of Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 to runner up.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Dr. Haseeb Mughal said that J&K Police is organizing these tournaments to tap local talent of the area. He emphasized greater co-operation with the public and said that police will leave no stone unturned to harness the local talent in sports and cultural activities by providing a platform to youth.
