Due to alleged mismanagement of the PHE department, the water crisis has deepened in various villages of Kisthwar district, putting the residents to extreme inconvenience.

The residents of Zarger Mohalla, Gudhali, Akhyarabad, Bunistan, Link road, Bagwan Mohalla, Sarkoo, Upper & Lower Cherhar, Baigpura, Malikpura and Sanghrambhata  alleged that the concerned department is not giving heed to their grievances regarding scarcity of water. They said that despite frequent requests to the officials of the department, no relief has been provided till date.

They accuse the department of supplying water arbitrarily. "The employees at PHE supply water at its own, especially to the villages having some political influence," villagers alleged and added that the department is even not giving attention towards the repair of existing supply lines.

"It has now been a week without supply of water. Nearly 50 percent of water is lost due to leakage and pilferages as the pipes are worn out and rusty," said a local resident.

Residents of Village Hidyal alleged that the concerned department is not taking seriously their problems and threatened to stage protests if the situation did not improve in coming days.

When contacted, a senior PHE official said that they are trying to provide maximum water supply to all areas and people should also cooperate. "They should not waste water. It creates problems in the distribution".
