At least twelve structures including six shops were gutted in an incident of fire in Surankote market last night, reports and officials said.
As per reports available, flames erupted from a shopping complex in Surankote at around 11:30 pm last night which soon engulfed adjacent shops and residential houses.
A police team led by SDPO, Riaz Tantray and a large number of locals rushed to the spot while the lone fire tender stationed in Surankote was called in. Twelve structures were gutted which include six shops and six residential structures, an official said.
Meanwhile, locals staged a massive protest today morning against Fire Services department alleging that the lone fire tender that reached the spot had no water "which exhibits carelessness on part of the concerned department".
