The district administration here has imposed restrictions on assembly of four or more persons along the Jammu-Poonch highway in view of frequent disruption of traffic by protestors.
As per an order issued by District Magistrate Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, restrictions have been imposed on assembly of four or more person on the highway as well as holding protests on the highway, under powers conferred upon him under CrPC 144.
Whosoever will be found violating the order will be dealt strictly under law, the order reads.
It further states that due to protests staged by people and blockage of highway public suffers a lot and resources of government are also spent for tackling protests while it also affects functioning of administration besides causing severe problems to patients and students in particular.
However the order shall not be applicable on processions of marriage ceremonies and deaths carried on national highway which contain more than four people, it added.
