People from different villages of Rajouri  Thursday demanded construction of  passenger shed at  Panja Chowk area of town where hundreds of people waiting to board passenger vehicles of their routes, suffer a great deal during rainy and hot conditions due to its non availability.

Talking to Greater Kashmir,  locals of the area stated that Panja Chowk is one of the most busy point in town  where hundreds of people can be seen  waiting  for vehicles of their routes.

The chowk remains busy as the passenger buses for most of the routes are available here and it is the need of the hour to construct a passenger shed for the convenience of passengers, locals said

"Passenger vehicles of Khandli, Kotedhara, Peeri, Budhal, Kandi, Rehan, Mandir Gala, Sakri, Palma, Dhangri, Kalakote, Sialsui, Argi, Jamola, Bindi, and other local routes are available to people from Panja chowk due to which this point remains heavily rushed " they  said.

They said  that even after such a crowd, authorities have not even bothered to construct a passenger shed thereby making common masses suffer.

"Passengers suffer a great deal due to humid conditions of summer and rains,"  Manoj Kumar, a local  said, adding that the concerned authorities never bothered to construct a shed here for the convenience of passengers despite repeated requests.

He added that a passenger shed with capacity of sixty to seventy persons is a burning need of the hour which should be constructed on the spot for the benefit of the public.

A school going student Mohd Riaz told Greater Kashmir that hundreds of college and school going students   waiting for vehicles on the Panja Chowk  face immense hardships in rainy and hot weather due to non availability of passenger shed on the spot.
