2 minor siblings die, 20 injured in Kalakote accident

Two minor siblings died and twenty commuters sustained injuries when a minibus they were travelling in met with an accident near Kalakote in this frontier district on Sunday, officials said.

Two minor siblings died and twenty commuters sustained injuries when a minibus they were travelling in met with an accident near Kalakote in this frontier district on Sunday, officials said.

They said that a minibus (No. JK11 3006) on way to Moughla village from Kalakote fell into a deep gorge at Saroh village. In the accident two siblings Arjun Sharma, 4, Preeti, 8, children of Rakesh Kumar of Moughla died on the spot while 20 passengers were wounded.  The injured were rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile family members and relatives of deceased children and others assembled on the main road in the evening and staged a protest.

Protesters said that despite major accident taking place no senior officer reached on the spot. They demanded that adequate compensation should be provided to the Next of the Kin (NoK) of the deceased and the injured persons. Meanwhile, Governor N N Vohra has expressed grief over the loss of innocent lives in a mini-bus accident in Kalakote area.

In a condolence message the Governor conveyed his sympathies to the members of the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls. He wished speedy recovery to the injured in this accident.
