With most of ATMs in Rajouri running dry, people in the border district are suffering badly.
On Wednesday, long queues of people were witnessed in banks and outside ATMs. But, according to reports, most ATMs in the district are running short of cash.
"Hardly a couple of ATMs functioned today some hours while rest continued to be out of cash," local residents told Greater Kashmir.
Since morning, long queues of people were seen outside some ATMs, waiting desperately for their turn. But, they had to return disappointed as there was no cash in many machines.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, people said the demonetization step taken appreciable but has been taken without any planning, thereby making people suffer.
"We don't have any problem to stand in queues and deposit our high denomination notes but we are facing problems as new currency is not available at ATMs or banks and our life has come to a standstill," said Jaugesh Kumar Sharma, who was waiting for his turn outside an ATM in Rajouri.
