Atleast forty people were hospitalized after accidental leakage of Chlorine gas from army's water filtration plant here in Sunderbani.  

As per reports, at about 05:40 PM, Chlorine gas stored in Military Engineering Service (MES) water plant in Sunderbani leaked accidentally and spread in the nearby areas including a civilian locality of ward number 10 of Sunderbani town. 

"Due to inhaling of the gas the residents of the locality developed respirator congestion" sources said.  

 Sensing the gravity of the situation, a police   team led by SHO Sunderbani Ravinder Parihar rushed to the spot and evacuated the people to SDH Sunderbani for treatment. 

" Around forty persons of ward number 10 have so far been shifted to the hospital suffering from respiratory congestion  of which sixteen   have been admitted while rest are kept under observation " a police official said.

He added that all the people are out of danger and no one has been referred for specialized treatment.
