A woman was injured on Friday after the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heaby fire and shelling along the Line of Control in Balakote sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The injured woman has been identified as Naseem Akhter, wife of Ghayas Ahmad of Dharati Balakote.
An official said that Pakistan Army used small arms, mortars and automatics to fire at Indian positions in the Balakote sector since early morning today.
Some shells, he said, landed in the civilian areas, resulting in injuries to thw woman.
He said a tanker on army duty was also badly damaged due to shelling.
"Indian army is strongly and effectively responding to Pakistan," said the official.
