Grave irregularities have been found in the selection of Assistant Professors in 2016 and 2017 at BGSB University.
Aggrieved persons said the UGC has setup 100-point system, a standard criterion followed among all Indian universities for shortlisting the eligible candidates (PhD/ or NET). The 100 points is breakup of masters, PhD, NET/SET/GATE/JRF, postdoctoral and teaching experience, research papers, book chapters, conferences, national or international awards etc. This was not followed, they alleged.
All state and central universities after screening the candidates, calls the candidates in a ratio of 1:3, 1:5, 1:8 or maximum 1:10 which could be the highest limit. In JKPSC higher education 1:3 for Assistant Professors and most of the central or state universities follows 1:5 or 1:8 criteria to select the meritorious and bright candidates. In BGSB University no such criteria were followed and all candidates were subjected to appear in the interview, they added.
They have sought appropriate action.
