In wake of ceasefire violation and intense mortar shelling in several villages along Line of Control in Balakote and Manjakote, health department has been put on standby mode and leaves of medical staff have also been cancelled.  

Block Medical Officer Mendhar, Dr.  Parvez Khan told Greater Kashmir that all doctors and paramedic staff of Sub District Hospital Mendhar and all Primary Health Centres have been put on alert and asked to remain on health institutions following heavy shelling. 

"All the staff on any sort of leave are directed to report back on duty and all sort of leaves are cancelled with immediate effect " BMO added.  

He further disclosed to have issued an order directing opening of all institutions 24*7 in the wake of shelling and operation theatre of Mendhar hospital has also been put in ready mode with all life saving drugs.  

" One ward of Mendhar hospital will remain vacated to deal with emergency patients in wake of shelling " BMO added.  

It has also been informed that ambulances have also been stationed in vulnerable areas for timely shifting of patients.

On the other hand, health department in Rajouri district has also cancelled leaves of officials in wake of tension on LoC.

"No official is allowed to leave the station and only those leaves will remain functional which are sanctioned from this office only " CMO Rajouri Dr. Chaman Bhasin said adding that some leaves are sanctioned from BMOs level which have been cancelled to ensure proper health facilities amid shelling along LoC.
