On the call by National Conference, a complete shutdown was observed Mendhar area here.
The bandh call was given by NC wing of Mendhar headed by MLA, Javed A Rana. The traders had kept their business establishments closed since morning.
Meanwhile, in afternoon hours, a protest march was taken out in which a large number of people took part. The march was led by NC MLA Mendhar, Javed A Rana.
Participants raised slogans against moves to fiddle with Article 35-A and said that any such attempt will lead to serious problems.
In their address, speakers including MLA Mendhar said that "Article 35-A is backbone of state's special status and no one from the state will tolerate any attempt to weaken the special status."
They also said that the issue of Article 35-A row is not confined to any religion. Meanwhile, reporters said during this protest rally, a group of about eight boys allegedly raised pro-freedom slogans. Police took cognizance of the matter after a video of the sloganeering went viral on social media. "FIR 145/2018 under section 124-A, 120-B has been registered in police station Mendhar against the accused who raised slogans and process to identify them is going on " SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey said.
