A 20-year-old boy was detained by the army from a vehicle in Gursai area on Tuesday for allegedly possessing a revolver and seven bullets, sources said.
Sources to Greater Kashmir said, "A Tata Sumo, JK12 4517, was intercepted by the army's 37 and 16 Rashtriya Rifles units at Gursai, while it was on way to Mendhar from Surankote. During frisking, a revolver and seven bullets were recovered from a boy's possession."
Sources added, "The boy was also in possession of two mobile phones, a knife, a chain and a sim card."
The detained boy is a resident of Surankote area and a student of bachelors in Arts, Degree College Surankote. He was, reportedly, carrying the revolver which is licensed on the name of his father, who is a government employee.
Security forces are still questioning the boy, an official said, adding that nothing concrete can be said at the moment.
He, however, confirmed that the boy has been detained after he was found in possession of a revolver and seven bullets.
"The youth is being handed over to police station Gursai for further investigation," sources said.
