An uneasy calm prevailed on the Line of Control on Tuesday where Indian and Pakistani armies exchanged heavy gunfire on Monday forcing authorities to shut all the education institutions.

Heavy exchange of cross border firing between Indian and Pakistani armies took place on Monday in Lam Pukharni and Keri forward areas on line of control in Rajouri district. 

All the education institutions in the shelling affected areas were closed by authorities.

Additional deputy commissioner Rajouri, Sher Singh, said that no fresh incident of ceasefire violation took place from Monday evening to Tuesday evening.

"Situation by and large remained peaceful with no fresh reports of firing," said the officer.

He also informed that keeping in view the peaceful situation which has prevailed from Monday evening till now, schools will be opened on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, sources informed that in both Lam Pukharni and Keri forward areas, where heavy ceasefire violation took place on Monday, no fresh firing took place. They said that in the daily status report filed by field agencies at 6 PM on Tuesday evening, it has been mentioned that no fresh firing took place.
