The residents of Balnoi village Saturday staged a demonstration at sub-divisional headquarter and demanded a speedy probe into the mysterious death of a teacher.

They alleged, "Mohammad Gulzar, son of Khan Mohammad and aresident of Mankote, was found dead at Balnoi under mysterious circumstancestwo days ago. It is a clear case of murder, but the police are showcasingcallous attitude."

The protesting residents said, "It has been two days, butthe police have yet not come out with a solid statement."

The protesters also blocked the main road at Mendhar chowkand raised slogans against the police.

After one-and-a-half-hour long protest, sub-divisionalpolice officer, Mendhar, reached the spot and pacified the protesters, assuringthem that the case is being investigated and will be worked out soon.

On this assurance, the protest was called off.
