3-YR-OLD MAULED TO DEATH: Half-eaten body recovered after 15 hours

The half-eaten body of a three-year-old, who was attacked and taken away by a leopard on Monday, was found and recovered by the locals, accompanied by police, on Tuesday, 15 hours after the attack.

Reports said, “A massive search operation was launched to track down the beast, which had earlier struck in Kansoli village of Mahore belt on December 8 and had mauled to death 8-year-old Rehmat Ali.”

The big cat ventured into Jamlan village from the nearby forest on Monday evening, pounced on Wasim Akram when he was outside his house and dragged him away, a police officer said, adding that locals, aided by police teams, chased the leopard, but only managed to recover the half-eaten body of the victim.

“The mutilated body was handed over to the family of the deceased after completion of legal formalities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the incident triggered panic among residents, who staged a protest against the wildlife department for alleged failure to take necessary measures to avoid such killings.

Pertinently, on September 10, 22-year-old Shameem Akhtar was killed by a bear in Bagodass village.
