A 36-year-old policeman was crushed to death by a speeding tipper in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.
Quoting reports, GNS news agency reported that the mishap occurred when a tipper (bearing registration number JK02BJ-7035) hit a motorcycle (PB32Q-4969) in Draba area, resulting in on spot death of the biker.
The lorry was on its way to Surankote from Bafliaz when the accident took place, they said.
The deceased has been identified as selection grade constable Mushtaq Ahmad, 36, posted with JKAP 6th battalion B company in the border district.
SSP Poonch Rajeev Pandey while confirming the mishap told GNS that the tipper was immediately seized by the police.
“The accused driver, however, fled from the spot soon after the incident. A manhunt has been launched to nab him,” he said.
