Amid tall claims of Education department to rationalize schools on the basis of enrollment and staff, Government Primary School Chatta of Sunderbani zone is functions with seven students and a staff of four teachers.
Sources said that due to political interference, the school was spared in the process of clubbing the schools having less enrolment .
Sources said that the gross lapse on the part of authorities came to fore after a team of District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Rajouri recently visited the school to see that there are only seven students enrolled in the school and taught by four teachers.
Among the seven students three are enrolled in fifth class and two each second and first class, sources said.
"During inspection it was also found that attendance of the students of the school has not been marked since the last week of May which clearly shows carelessness of school staff towards their duty" sources added.
Similarly only the scrutiny of the records further revealed that the Mid Day Meals have not been served to the students after May 22, while despite having a kitchen shed in the school, a private room has been hired to cook the meal.
Taking serious note of the lapse, DIET Rajouri has forwarded a report to Chief Education Officer Rajouri with recommendation to take action against the staff for negligence towards their duty.
Action has also been recommended against Zonal Education Officer Sunderbani, 'who never visited the school and failed to recommend for its clubbing owing to poor enrolment', sources added.
