Authorities on Sunday served notices to around 70 persons in Kotranka area after their structures were found illegal and encroaching road stretch of Kotranka -Khawas road.

Authorities on Sunday served notices to around 70 persons in Kotranka area after their structures were found illegal and encroaching road stretch of Kotranka -Khawas road. 

As per officials, a decision to remove encroachments was taken in a recent review meeting of mega projects of Darhal constituency which was chaired by  local MLA and minister for education, haj and auqaf and tribal affairs, Chowdhary Zulfikar Ali and a committee headed by ADC Kotranka Shafiq Ahmed was also framed which comprises of officers including Superintendent Engineer PWD Rajouri/Poonch Abdul Majid khan, ExEN PWD Mushtaq Raina, AEE Shakil Qureshi, AEE PDD Jamshaid Ahmed alonwith Naib Tehsildar Kandi and supporting staff. 

The team conducted an extensive tour of Kotranka -Khawas road and served notices to 70 persons with the directions to remove the pavement encroachment by way of construction of shops and houses within three days. 

"Notices have been served and encroachers have been asked to remove their structures themselves else all their structures will be removed by authorities through anti encroachment drive " officials added. 

Pertinent to mention here that Khawas is one of the most backward areas of Rajouri district and the main road connecting Khawas with Kotranka is in worst condition since decades and a new project to construct new road on the said stretch was sanctioned recently and work on this road stretch is also underway.
