The management of Baba Ghulam Shah Badhshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri in Pir Panchal region has rusticated 20 students and penalized nine on the charges of orchestrating group clashes in the campus in April this year.

A five member inquiry team headed by Head of Biodiversity Studies was framed by University Vice-Chancellor Javed Masarat after the clash and the inquiry team submitted its report to Disciplinary Action Committee, which after threadbare discussion, initiated action.

"Action has been taken against 29 students 20 have been rusticated and nine others fined," sources said.

They said that some students have been rusticated for one semester while others for one year. "Security guards  have been asked not to allow the entry of rusticated students in the campus " sources said.

The action stands initiated since one month but university management didn't disclose it.

They also added that a meeting between University Vice-Chancellor Javed Musarat and parents of the students against whom action has been taken was held a week ago wherein parents pleaded before the Vice-Chancellor to reconsider the decision. The plea of parents has been forwarded to Disciplinary Action Committee for further decision and committee is yet to send it back to the table of VC," sources said Sources stated that this is one of the stern action taken by BGSBU management in recent times as group clashes had students fighting with each other had become a routine.
