The residents of Thanamandi today staged protest demonstration against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
A peaceful bandh was also observed in the town against civilian killings in Kashmir and excessive use of force on the protesters.
The bandh was observed on the call given by Thanamandi Coordination Committee led by Imam Jamia Masjid, traders, transporters and civil society members.
During the daylong shutdown, all the business establishments remained closed and a protest rally was also taken out in the main town in which hundreds of people participated and demanded that normalcy should be restored in the valley.
Shouting slogans, the protesters said that Kashmir valley is passing through one of the toughest times, and government, both in state and centre, should ensure that normalcy is restored on immediate basis.
They also demanded a ban on the pellet guns the usage of which is causing serious injuries to people.
Protesting people also said that people valley in the are facing severe shortage of basic amenities and government should ensure that these amenities are provided to the people.
