Terming demonetization by Government of India as a failed step "with no major results achieved even after 50 days", the Congress on Thursday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and put forth several of its demands.

Addressing a press conference at Dak Bungalow, former MoS and former MLA Rajouri, Shabir Ahmd Khan and Congress District President Sain Abdul Rashid termed the demonetization as "ill-planned."

"The demonetization step was taken without even consulting the Reserve Bank of India and made people to suffer badly across the country," the Congress leaders said, adding: "No major result has been achieved even after 50 days."

They said the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi put forth five questions before PM in the Parliament "but the PM didn't answer even one."

They also put forth several demands of common masses which include removing limit imposed on withdrawal of cash from ATMs, provision of ration among poor people on half rates and help to families of those who suffered losses due to demonetization.
