Established 15 years back, Mahore school awaits building

Established 15 years back in 2003, Primary School, Chakli Shabrass, in Mahore zone of Reasi district, has no building.

The locals said that despite repeated requests and reminders, the government has failed to provide basic education facilities to their areas.

There are two teachers in school who take classes in the open.

The Primary School, Chakli Shabrass, with 40 students on roll, is closed by the teachers whenever it rains as there is no building for taking classes, locals said.

They said that if it rains for days together, especially during monsoons, the studies of the students get badly affected.

The locals told Greater Kashmir that only a toilet facility has provided for the students but unfortunately, there is no building.

When contacted, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Mahore, said that there are many schools in Mahore zone which have no building. He cited scarcity of funds as being the reason for lack of school buildings.

“These schools have been established under SSA and the higher authorities have not sanctioned funds for constructing buildings for school,” the ZEO said.
