India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire in Saujiyan and Poonch sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning, an official said.
He said the firing exchange took place hours after both sides fired at the positions on both sides of the border last night in Hamirpur, BG and KG sectors.
An army spokesperson said that last night at about 11:45 PM, Pakistani army resorted to "unprovoked" firing in Poonch and used RPGs and 82 mm mortars to pound Indian locations.
He said the Indian side retaliated effectively with similar calibre weapons.
He added that heavy firing is still going on in the sector.
Meanwhile, sources told Greater Kashmir that heavy firing was reported from Saujiyan sector at 6:40 am, which was going on when last reports poured in.
