Heavy rainfall across Reasi district damaged crops and fruits, with the local farmers trying to ascertain their losses.
The people of Arnas, Dharmari, Hariwala, Jamaslan, Sildhar, Bathoi, Shikhari, Tharal, Thiloo, Channa, Tuli Banna, Mamankote, Bagankote, Bagudass, Shabrass, Tharella, Dewal, Kaidoora, Baransaal, Gulabgarh, Lar, Khor, Shadole, Tukson, Angralla and Ladh said that due to heavy rainfall and strong winds, they have suffered heavy loss of crops and fruits.
Meanwhile, the residents of Gulabgarh claimed that their kids, who study at Government Higher Secondary are facing a tough time as the bridge that connects Nihoch, Dewal, Shabrass and Arbais villages with the school has also been damaged due to incessant rains. "The kids have to cross the river without a bridge. It poses a serious risk to their lives and we are scared for their safety," they said.
The locals demanded restoration of bridges and adequate compensation for the losses they have suffered.
When contacted by Greater Kashmir, DC Reasi Prassana Ramaswamy G said, "I have directed all the Tehsildhars to collect the information about the losses and the people who have suffered losses due to rainfall will be compensated soon."
