Flood-hit inhabitants of village Kalani today criticized the government and district administration Poonch for "ignoring" the village.

The residents said they were first hit by Mandi-Poonch river water in 2013. "Then in 2014, there was heavy flood in the village, and now we have again been hit by the recent floods.

"Although chief minister Omar Abdullah had visited to Kalani in 2013, his tour proved of no help," they said.

Chairman Insaaf Movement Javid Reshi said the department of irrigation and flood control claims to have invested lakhs of rupees for strengthening of embankment in the village, but on the ground nothing has been done.

He said locals are approaching him for justice. "I have already approached to state government for permanent habitation of locals of dangerous zone area, but the government is indifferent."

He appealed to chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to look into the issue and provide permanent shelters for all people of dangerous zone areas of Poonch district.
