Amid prevailing tension and skirmishes on Line of Control, hundreds of villagers from forward areas of Kalsian and Kalal belt of Nowshera have taken shelters in camps established by administration in safer locations.
Details available with Greater Kashmir stated that after hours long mortar shelling last night, wave of panic as well as tension on LoC escalated and hundreds of people from villages started to migrate to safer locations.
After receiving information ARTO Rajouri Jugal Sharma and SDM Nowshera Harbans Lal Sharma reached on the spot and ferried the people in the buses, which were stationed in the area, people were shifted to Government High School Nonial where authorities have set up a camp.
Until 6 PM, more than 500 souls comprising 122 families reached camp at Nonial school, SDM Harbans Lal Sharma told Greater Kashmir.
He added that authorities are trying to ensure that all the basic facilities are provided to the people. "Amid prevailing tension, civilian population has also started to migrate to safer places from Kalal area where fleet of buses was sent by ARTO Rajouri and people are being shifted."
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat accompanied by ADC Mumtaz Ali and other senior officers including Chief Medical Officer Dr Younis Ahmed, Chief Education Officer Altaf Hussain visited make shift camps and directed officers to work with dedication and sincerity.
