The border guards of India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged heavy fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that firing started today morning at around 4 am in Kalsian sector with small arms.
"Soon mortar shelling began, triggering a wave of fear and panic in the border villages," said an official.
Both sides used small and heavy arms to target each other's positions, he said.
However, there was no immediate report of any losses thus far.
Five people were injured in shelling in the adjacent Poonch district yesterday.
