Kousarnag Yatra concludes

More than 700 yatris, who undertook the difficult Kousarnag Yatra that cuts across the Pir Panchal mountain range, returned to the base camp at Reasi on Tuesday after successfully completing the yatra.

The pilgrims used two main routes for their yatra, one via Sari and Gorvaan and the other via Baghudass and Sedhati. DC Reasi Prasanna Ramaswamy G, had flagged off the yatra from Reasi on July 6.

SDM Mahore Yasin Choudhary was the overall in-charge of the yatra and also accompanied the pilgrims to the lake site. Apart from piped water supply, a toilet complex was also built for the pilgrims to prevent open defecation.

The locals set up langars at various locations along the route and also accommodated the pilgrims in their dhoks during the night. Besides, the army had provided 5 tents for additional accommodation at Sari.

After reaching the lake site on July 8, puja and aarti were performed and the return journey was started. SDPO Mahore Mujeeb ur Rehman Bhat said that no injuries or casualties were reported along the treacherous yatra route.
