Amid slippery conditions making this road stretch vulnerable to accidents, illegal movement of vehicles has started on Mughal Road, sources said.
Sources said the authorities completed snow clearance work on Mughal Road two days back after which SP Traffic paid a visit to it to review its status.
Sources said the SP Traffic is going to submit a report to higher authorities regarding feasibility of traffic movement while senior officers of works department and Mughal Road project also visited the site today.
"After review, the authorities will give green signal to vehicular movement on Mughal Road in next few days but at present the vehicular traffic is completely banned on the road except movement of those officers of Mughal Road Project or administration who pay visit to review road status and snow clearance," sources said.
However, sources said at a time when authorities are yet to give green signal to start or traffic, illegal movement of vehicles has started on the road.
"For last three days, a large number of civilian vehicles moved over the road with most of people in these vehicles going to Pir Ki Gali for sightseeing," sources said.
When contacted SDM Surankote Dr Basharat Hussain said there is no official nod for movement of vehicles on this road.
"We do expect some decision from higher authorities within a day or two," he said.
