Mendhar, Jan 30: A poor family from Salani village of Mendhar has sought the government's help to repair their house, which was damaged a month ago due to heavy rainfall.
Mohammad Razaq, owner of the house, said, "A month ago, my house suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall. As my financial condition is not good, I am not able to repair it. Because of this, my family is suffering during the harsh winters."
The recent inclement weather has brought in more misery for the family. "We are unable to protect ourselves from the extreme cold. We have laid a plastic sheet over the damaged part to at least feel that we have a cover over our heads," they said.
Seeking the government's help, they appealed to the Governor to provide them with assistance.
On being contacted by Greater Kashmir, the block development officer, Mankote, Ajaz Ahmed, assured to personally look into the issue.
