Normalcy got restored in this border town today after the majority community decided to suspend by two days the ongoing bandh against attack on a cop who was transporting a bovine milch animal in the town.

Shops and business establishments reopened this morning after a two-day hiatus while heavy rush was also witnessed in the markets. Normal movement of traffic on Rajouri-Salani, Rajouri-Khandli and Rajouri-Kheora was witnessed which were the worst were affected due to the strike.

Normal attendance was also recorded in schools and colleges apart from government offices.

"A meeting of prominent citizens from the majority community was held in Rajouri in which it was decided that the bandh should be suspended for two-days. Further course of action will be decided in a meeting to be held in next two days", sources privy to the meeting said.

Pertinently complete strike was observed in the town on Saturday and Sunday on the call given by members of the majority community after a police constable was beaten up while transporting a buffalo in the town, amid rumors that the bovine animals was being taken for slaughtering.
