Rescue operation launched to evacuate two families from snowbound Poonch area

The district authorities have launched a rescue operation to evacuate two Bakerwal families stuck in a snowbound area in Surankote area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports said two families belonging to Bakerwal community were stuck near Dadar Katha hill Kala mountain range of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

   

The families comprise six men, two women and one child. 600 goats, 8 horses and 4 buffaloes owned by the families are also stuck in the area.

“Our teams might have reached up to the location and rescue operation to evacuate the families will be completed soon,” SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey told Greater Kashmir.
