Road work in Rajouri left midway; people suffer

Al-Huda Educational Trust in Rajouri district of Pir Panchal region on Saturday appealed to state government to complete all road works that were recently in the district.

Addressing a press conference here, Chairman of the Trust, Moulana Amir Muhammad Shamsi, said many new road works were recently announced by the state government for Rajouri district but most of these are yet to be taken up or completed.

"Blacktopping on Rajouri-Chowdhary-Nar-Ujhan road was started a week ago but the work has stopped," Shamsi said.

He said blacktopping on Rajouri-Peeri road was started two months ago but was completed only up to Maira village. "The rest of the portion is still to be completed," Shamsi said.

He alleged that minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, who announced start of these works with fanfare, "seems to be doing it for publicity because the works are abandoned soon after their start."

Moulana Shamsi demanded that department should black-top road from New Bridge of Rajouri to Kheora Chowk (via Bela Colony).
