Elections for students’ union were held at Government Degree College Poonch on Sunday under the supervision of vice-principal of the college, in the presence of returning officers.
Earlier, students also elected their class representatives and a total of 52 representatives were elected.
Sheikh Zameer and Naif Shazad Qureshi of final year contested for the presidential post, which the former won by a landslide. Zameer received 39 out of 52 votes.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Afzal Choudary of 3rd semester and Sonali Sharma of 5th semester were elected as vice-presidents, whereas Touqeer Khan was elected as general secretary.
During his winning speech, the new president thanked the vice-principal and staff for conducting fair elections and assured them that he and his team will work for the overall development of the college and welfare of the student community.
