BJP launches campaign for all 5 Lok Sabha seats in J&K

Srinagar, Jan 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched its campaign in Jammu and Kashmir with the objective of winning all the five Lok Sabha seats in the Union Territory, party General Gecretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul said on Saturday.

Addressing reporters after a party meeting in Anantnag, Koul said that Dr Nirmal Singh has been appointed as the sector in-charge for the five Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP plans to establish six election offices across the five constituencies, which are set to begin operations from January 30.

“The president of Jammu and Kashmir BJP will inaugurate all the six offices, including two for Anantnag and Rajouri seats, and one each for the other four seats, on January 30. We will work with the aim of winning all five seats from Jammu and Kashmir for the BJP,” added the senior BJP leader.

Responding to queries about the INDIA bloc, Koul dismissed it as merely a photo opportunity, “We have said it from the start that this INDIA alliance is a photo session. Bengal (TMC) has gone one way, Punjab and Delhi (AAP) have gone the other way, while the one they had made convenor is also wavering back and forth. Today, the alliance is nowhere,” he said.

The BJP leader said that Gupkar alliance in Jammu and Kashmir has disintegrated. The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) was established in 2019 after the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under Article 370 by the Centre, leading to the bifurcation of the state into Union territories — J&K and Ladakh.
