Srinagar, Feb 10: As parliamentary elections are around, the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir gears up by submitting a list of potential candidates to the party high command in New Delhi.
Led by J&K Congress president Viqar Rasool Wani, the list comprises a mix of seasoned politicians and fresh faces, reflecting the party’s strategy for the upcoming polls.
The submitted roster outlines candidates for all five parliamentary seats in the region, with careful consideration given to each constituency’s dynamics. For the Baramulla-Kupwara seat, the list includes prominent figures such as Saif u Din Soz, G N Monga, Abdul Rashid Dar, and Bashir Ahmad Khan, all possessing extensive experience within the Congress ranks.
In the Srinagar-Budgam constituency, the Congress has put forth the names of notable leaders like former finance minister Tariq Hameed Karra, senior vice president Mohd Anwar Bhat, Congress Mahila president Shameema Raina, and loyalist Arshid Ahmad Tantray.
Meanwhile, for the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, the party has nominated former legislators, including Ghulam Muhammad Mir, Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Shabir Ahmad Khan, and Jahangir Ahmad Khan, reflecting a blend of experience and representation.
In the Jammu-Kathua constituency, a diverse array of candidates has been proposed, ranging from present working president Raman Bhalla to former deputy CM Tara Chand, alongside other seasoned leaders such as Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, and Neeraj Kundan.
Lastly, the Udhampur-Doda constituency sees a mix of present and former party leaders in the fray, with current PCC president Vikar Rasool Wani alongside seasoned names like Thakur Balbir Singh and Mohinder Bhardwaj.
Viqar Rasool Wani, the Congress president in Jammu and Kashmir, has called upon party leaders and district presidents to kickstart preparations for the impending parliamentary elections. This includes organizing meetings and rallies to mobilize support and ensure the party is well-positioned for the electoral battle ahead.
