Sajad Lone meets Muzaffar Baig, Safina at their residence; seeks support in LS polls

Srinagar, Apr 24: Peoples Conference (PC) President and party candidate Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday met former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig and his wife Safina Baig to seek support in ongoing Lok Sabha (LS) elections in north Kashmir’s Baramulla constituency.

The LS polls in Baramulla Parliamentary segment is scheduled for polls on May 20 and many senior politicians including former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former MP Rajya Sabha Fayaz Mir are in the electoral fray in the parliament constituency.

   

Notably, PC President visited the residence of Baig along with his senior party colleague Imran Raza Ansari and sought their support in the LS election for north Kashmir.

The move comes days after the Sajad Lone openly sought support from J&K Apni Party President Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari in north Kashmir to consolidate the fragmented votes and defeat the National Conference candidate.

The PC President had stated that fragmentation of votes always helped the National Conference (NC) candidate to win the Lok Sabha elections who are sent to the Parliament.

Meanwhile, PC President along with his party colleague held a meeting with Muzaffar Baig and his wife which remained confined to seek electoral support in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in north Kashmir.

The notification for the Baramulla Parliament constituency is scheduled to be issued on April 26 and nominations will be filed from April 26 to May 3.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), JKPC Chairman Sajad Lone said “It was a pleasure to call on @Muzaffar__Baig sahib and @SafinaMBaig ji. As the conversation predictably veered towards elections, I stressed that I have a right. And seeking their support is my right”.

To this, wife of Muzaffar Beigh, Safina Baig who is presently the DDC Chairperson Baramulla wrote on X: “Whenever Beigh sahib and I host Sajad sahib at our residence, it inevitably reminds all of us of the decades long that we share. Beigh sahib has seen him grow and evolve. And yes @sajadlone sahib is correct when he says he is here by virtue of a right.”
