Palma residents demand up-gradation of local school, repair of blocked road

The residents of Palma and adjoining villages on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration, demanding up-gradation of the local high school and repair of blocked main road.

Led by local leaders, including the Ex-Sarpanch, the people assembled on the main road from Rajouri to Budhal and blocked it, while raising slogans in favor of their demands.

They agitating people said, “Palma High School caters to the needs of hundreds of students from Palma and more than eight nearby villages, but after completing 10th class, the students are forced to leave their homes and stay in Rajouri town for further studies.” They demanded, “As the government has started the process for up-gradation of schools, the Palma school should also be upgraded.”

After more than half-an-hour long protest, a team of administration reached the spot and pacified the protesters.
